Deploying at scale without deploying at each school
Chrysalis Education operates one of the largest independent school networks in the UK. With 90+ schools and over 300,000 students, their digital product team faced a familiar problem: any new platform that required school-by-school configuration would take years to roll out — and even longer to maintain.
They had evaluated several adaptive learning vendors before ClassGrade. Each required per-school setup work, had limited curriculum customisation, and couldn't produce the kind of spoken-language grading accuracy their curriculum demanded. ClassGrade was integrated at the Chrysalis group level via a single API connection. The curriculum was mapped once — Chrysalis's subject structure, marking standards, and grading rubrics were all ingested and configured centrally. From that point, every school in the network inherited the platform configuration automatically.
ClassGrade's content generation system then produced over 20,000 activities from the Chrysalis curriculum. Activity types included written comprehension, structured short answers, and spoken reading assessments — all graded automatically by the ClassGrade engine.
Individual school administrators were given local override capability within the policy boundaries set centrally. They could adjust activity assignments, mark overrides, and enable parent reports — without touching infrastructure or creating support tickets with HQ.
